2012 GEO International Conference – Call for Presentations

THE SUBMISSION PERIOD IS NOW CLOSED.

Overview

Thank you for your interest in speaking at GEO's 13th Annual International Conference in Washington, D.C. on 16-18 April, 2012. For your convenience, everything you need to submit your presentation proposal can be found on this page.

Last year GEO received a record number of proposals and we anticipate a similarly high level of interest again this year. All presentation proposals should deal with some aspect of equity compensation, administration, communication, governance, taxation, compliance or related topics..

All proposals must be submitted via this website by 18 November 2011. Incomplete or late submissions will not be considered. Selections will be made and speakers notified in early December.

To begin the submission process, please follow the links below:

What to Consider When Submitting a Proposal

GEO’s annual International Conference is known for the quality of its educational opportunities. With an average speaker rating of 90% at our most recent conference, know that you’ll be in good company should you be accepted to present in 2012.

To ensure a robust and compelling conference agenda, GEO’s speaker selection process emphasizes the following:

  • Issuer involvement
  • Timeliness
  • Uniqueness of presentation
  • Case studies, panels, and other unique formats
  • Audience participation

Please note that “sales pitches” of any kind will not be considered; it is not appropriate for service providers to use a GEO conference presentation as an opportunity to openly promote their firm’s services.

The audience at GEO’s International Conference tends to be both sophisticated and generally knowledgeable about employee share plans. In recent years, the ‘typical’ issuer conference attendee works in stock plan administration, program design or compliance for their organizations, with most holding senior manager/director (or higher) positions.

How to Submit a Proposal

All presentation proposals for the 2012 International Conference must be submitted via our online tool.

There is no limit to the number of proposals you or your firm may submit. Please remember, however, that incomplete submissions will not be considered.

What Happens After You Submit Your Proposal

All proposals are carefully considered by GEO’s Speaker Selection Committee, comprised of select members of GEO’s Board of Directors. Committee members evaluate proposals individually before meeting in January to make the final selections as a group.

Once final decisions are made, GEO’s Executive Director will notify everyone who submitted a proposal of the outcome.

If your proposal was accepted:

You will be notified of your time slot in the conference schedule. Note that you will have a limited amount of time to notify GEO of any issues relating to the date and time of your presentation. While we will make every attempt to accommodate varying schedules, the final decision regarding conference scheduling rests with GEO.

If you or any members of your presentation team are not registered members of GEO, you must join and pay any appropriate membership fee within 30 days of notification of your acceptance. For information on our different categories of membership, please visit our GEO Membership pages.
You must register for the conference, and pay any appropriate registration fees, by 15 January 2012.

GEO reserves the right to retract any offer to present that does not comply with the registration requirements outlined above.

If your proposal was not accepted:

You may be offered an opportunity to present at a local chapter event, or to convert your presentation proposal into a GEO webinar or article for future publication.

You have the right to understand why your proposal was not accepted.

Payment & Registration Policies

All speakers must be 'paid-in-full' members of the Global Equity Organization. Speakers from issuer firms are able to attend the Conference at no charge. Unfortunately, as a not-for-profit organization and in recognition of the business development opportunities inherent in speaking, GEO cannot extend that courtesy to representatives from provider firms.

We appreciate your interest in presenting at the 2012 International Conference in Washington. If you have questions regarding the speaker selection process, or need assistance in crafting an appropriate proposal to present, please contact Shawn Garcia at shawn.garcia@globalequity.org.
