UK Outsourcing Firm Opens New Financial Data Operations Centre in India

The Bengaluru operations centre will initially offer 350 skilled data jobs and follows the opening of another operations centre in Chennai which now employs 1,000.

Financial data services firm Equiniti Group is opening a new IT operations service centre in Bengaluru, India. The new site will deliver specialist business process outsourcing, IT development, testing and infrastructure services.

The British company’s new India operation will create 350 skilled jobs, with that number expected to rise in the short- to medium-term. The company already runs an operation for its services in Chennai.

Dominic McAllister, British deputy high commissioner of Bengaluru, said: “Equiniti have already established a strong presence in Southern India. The choice of Bengaluru for their new operation underlines the exceptional investment opportunities that exist in the tech capital of India.

“The UK invests more in India than any other G20 country and this is a great example of investment in innovation and technology.”

Equiniti will harness local talent to provide key support to its growing US business, EQ by Equiniti, as well as further developing its proprietary technology platforms aimed at the UK’s financial and capital markets.

The Chennai site has grown from around 100 employees to about 1,000 in five years. Guy Wakeley, chief executive officer of Equiniti, said: “By tapping into Bengaluru’s enviable tech talent, we expect to move closer to our vision of being the leading global technology provider for complex and regulated data and payments.”

The company is a leading provider of share registration, employee share plans and associated investor services, and also has leading positions in pension administration and software and employee benefit schemes.
