22.1 Frustration-Free Employee Ownership: How Amazon Implemented an Affordable and Simple Direct Stock Purchase Plan

In October 2018, Amazon senior management tasked Amazon’s stock department with designing and implementing an affordable, but simple stock purchase plan for eligible fulfillment center (FC) associates and customer service employees in less than a year. Amazon needed a program that could be implemented quickly and would allow employees to become owners of the company with small incremental employee contributions. This interesting case study session will provide insights, challenges, and more about the creative solution Amazon designed and implemented in less than 9 months to meet the goals of management and accomplish a frustration-free employee ownership opportunity for 375,000 eligible US and UK employees.
