4.3 When is an Employee Not an Employee? Granting Awards to Your PEO Hires

Since Covid, the potential talent pool has become global with flexible and remote working the norm. A resulting trend of this global expansion is the use of Professional Employer Organizations (PEOs) to engage global employees where companies do not have a physical presence. Although PEO employees are employed outside of the company, they are increasingly viewed as company employees and rewarded in a similar manner.

The panel will discuss the issues that arise and questions to consider when granting employee share awards to employees of PEOs.

Attendees will hear:

  • Why a proactive, professional approach to considering this issue will help keep all your employees happy.
  • Who the employer is for the purposes of the share plan and why it matters.
  • How organized administration can help with legal and tax compliance complexities.
