GEO's Privacy Policy

This privacy policy ("Privacy Policy") applies to all of the information collected on this website by Global Equity Organization, a non-profit 501(c)(6) mutual benefit corporation organized under the California Nonprofit Mutual Benefit Corporation Law for educational purposes("GEO").

Our Privacy Pledge

GEO is committed to respecting and protecting your privacy. If we collect any private information that personally identifies you ("personal information") we will not share this with any third party, unless:

  • we have your consent;
  • to our employees, contractors or consultants who are bound by an obligation of confidentiality;
  • to affiliated companies for the purposes of processing personal information on our or your behalf (we require that these parties agree to process such information based on our instructions and in compliance with this Privacy Policy and any other appropriate confidentiality and security measures);
  • in order to protect and defend the rights or property of GEO, or those of visitors to the website;
  • in response to a search warrant or other legally valid inquiry or order;
  • to an investigative body in the case of a breach of an agreement or contravention of law;
  • when sharing the information is a necessary operation of the website (i.e. to process credit card information);
  • as otherwise required by law.

We will only collect personally identifiable information when such information is submitted to us, by, for example, filling out a mailing list form, membership application, survey or registration form.

Information Collected

GEO collects the following information from you:

  • Mailing Lists. When you become a member and/or sign up to any of our mailing lists, we collect your email address and other contact information that you provide to us. We will also collect email addresses and other contact information provided by you as part of your use of the features and functions of the website. By submitting an email address and other contact information you consent to being placed on our mailing lists and thereby receiving e-mail and other correspondence from GEO, including newsletters, event advertisements, and website updates. You may remove your e-mail address from the applicable mailing list at any time by clicking the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of any e-mail from GEO. Although GEO will promptly remove your e-mail address from its mailing list, you may still receive any e-mails that are initiated before your e-mail address is removed from the list.
  • Communications or Utilization Data. Through your use of telecommunications services to access our website, your communications data (e.g. Internet protocol address) or utilization data (e.g. information on the beginning, end and extent of each access, and information on the telecommunications services you accessed) are technically generated and could conceivably relate to personal data. To the extent that there is a compelling necessity, the collection, processing and use of your communications or utilization data will occur and will be performed in accordance with the applicable data privacy protection legal framework.
  • Non-Personal Data Collected Automatically. When you access our websites, we may automatically (i.e., not by registration) collect non-personal data (e.g. type of Internet browser and operating system used, domain name of the website from which you came, number of visits, average time spent on the site, pages viewed). We may use this data and share it with our worldwide affiliates to monitor the attractiveness of our websites and improve their performance or content.
  • Cookies. When you view one of our websites, we may store some data on your computer in the form of a "cookie" to automatically recognize your Internet connected device the next time you visit. Cookies can help us in many ways, for example, by allowing us to tailor a website to better match your interests or to store your password to save you having to re-enter it each time. We may use this information for trend analysis, pattern detection, and website administration.   • Sharing Data with Third Party Systems. GEO will, from time to time, share your data with third party systems for the necessary operations of the organization, but such sharing is not for commercial purposes. These systems include but are not limited to GEO's website, credit card processors, telecommunications and teleconferencing systems and other third party platforms supplied by Ungerboeck International, Higher Logic, Feathr, Elevate, CommPartners, Acclaim, Credly and Constant Contact.
  • Other collections. From time to time, we may also ask you to provide certain non-personally identifiable information about yourself.

Use of Information

GEO respects your privacy and has instituted policies intended to ensure that your personal information is handled in a safe and responsible manner. GEO only processes personal information for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy and/or any supplemental privacy notices that we may provide to you. In addition to the uses described above, such purposes may include:

  • Providing our website and other services
  • Auditing, research and analysis in order to maintain, protect and improve our services
  • Ensuring the technical functioning of our website
  • Protecting the rights of GEO and other users
  • Contacting you when necessary

Website Content

All user-contributed content is the sole responsibility of the user who contributed such content, whether such user contributed the content directly or through a third-party website. Users are solely responsible for their user-contributed content and we specifically disclaim all liability for user-contributed content. The user represents and warrants that the user owns or otherwise controls and has all necessary legal rights to the user's submission and the name or other identifier used in connection with such submission including, but not limited to, all the rights necessary to provide, post, upload, input or submit the user-contributed content. We reserve the right to request a proof of ownership or permission, and to refuse to post user generated content without such proof or if such proof is, in our sole discretion, insufficient. We reserve the right to decline to permit the posting on the Site of or to remove from the Site any user-contributed content and we may also remove user-contributed content if it is brought to our attention, such as by notice given to us by a user or any third party that that content created, displayed or published by us is libelous, infringing, or in violation of a third party's privacy.

We have no duty to pre-screen content posted on the Site by members, or other users, whether directly contributed by the user or contributed by us or a third party on behalf of the user or any other content provided by a user to the Site), (collectively, "user-contributed content"). We are not responsible for user-contributed content. "User-contributed content" also includes information that a user or any other person provided to a third party website or mobile application that is then provided to our Site by a tool we offer or any other exchange of user-contributed content we have authorized.

All inquiries or claims related to Site content, including user-contributed content, will be addressed by the organization's Executive Director and if deemed necessary, the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors.

Children’s Privacy Statement

GEO will not knowingly collect personal data from children without insisting that they seek prior parental consent if required by applicable law. We will only use or disclose personal data about a child to the extent permitted by law, to seek parental consent pursuant to local law and regulations or to protect a child. The definition of "child" or "children" should take into account applicable laws as well as national and regional cultural customs.

Security

To protect your personal data against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss or alteration and against unauthorized disclosure or access, GEO uses technical and organizational security measures.

Links to Other Websites

Our websites contain links to other websites. GEO is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of other websites.

Correcting/Updating Personal Information

If your address or other personally identifiable information changes, or if you no longer desire to use our service, we provide a way to correct, update or request the deletion of the personal information you provided to us. This can be done by emailing us at GEOinfo@globalequity.org or by logging in to your user account on the website.

Opt-out

You may opt-out of receiving communications from our partners and/or from us by sending an email to us at GEOinfo@globalequity.org with your complete name, address and e-mail address.

Questions, Comments and Changes

GEO will respond to reasonable requests to review your personal data and to correct, amend or delete any inaccuracies.
