Brandi Chastain is a co-founder of Bay FC and an iconic figure in the world of sports. Inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 2016 and the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame in 2018, she has left an indelible mark on the game of soccer.

Brandi helped catapult women’s soccer into the global spotlight during the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup, where she scored the championship-winning penalty kick and celebrated with her now-legendary pose. Her career accolades include two FIFA Women’s World Cup titles, two Olympic gold medals, one Olympic silver, and a WUSA Championship. A standout at Santa Clara University, she won the prestigious Honda Sports Award as the nation’s top female collegiate soccer player.

For over three decades, Brandi has dedicated herself to the sport off the field as well, holding a U.S. Soccer A License and serving in various coaching roles across youth and collegiate programs throughout the Bay Area. She also brought her insights to a global audience as a commentator and analyst for NBC during the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics.

Beyond the pitch, Brandi is the founder of the Bay Area Women’s Sports Initiative (BAWSI), a nonprofit that empowers underserved girls to build confidence and leadership through sports. She continues to inspire the next generation from her home in the Bay Area, where she lives with her husband.
