GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES IN EQUITY COMPENSATION: THE VIEW OF BRAZILIANS ABROAD

This online session, organized by GEO Brazil, brings together Brazilian professionals working across Europe to explore global perspectives in equity compensation — from design and compliance to governance, technology, and investor expectations.

The discussion will highlight how different market contexts shape the administration and communication of equity plans worldwide.

We will also hear from experts regarding an update on the Supreme Court decision regarding the taxation of stock options for individual income tax purposes

The 90-minute event will feature three segments offering complementary viewpoints — issuer, system provider, and investor — followed by a discussion on international career experiences and professional development in the equity compensation field.

SESSION ONE: Issuer Perspective
This panel will examine the challenges and opportunities companies face when implementing global equity plans. Topics include balancing compliance, taxation, and employee experience; managing differences between jurisdictions; and sharing practical lessons learned in communication and financial education.

SESSION TWO: System Provider and Investor Perspective
This segment focuses on how technology providers and investors contribute to strong governance and transparency in global equity programs. The panel will discuss emerging trends, compliance best practices, and how investors assess equity plans in multinational organizations.

HOW AN EMPLOYEE SHARE SCHEME FUELS GROWTH FOR TECH STARTUP

Australian tech startups can use Employee Share Schemes (ESS) to attract and retain skilled talent by offering employees equity that aligns their interests with the company’s growth, especially when cash is tight. The ESS startup concessional regime makes this tax-effective by taxing employees only at a liquidity event and allowing shares to be offered at a discount, giving employees real ownership and potential upside. Eligible companies and employees must meet specific criteria, and when set up correctly, ESS can turn staff into true partners in growth, helping startups move from early-stage survival to long-term success.
